Agi & Sam Win The Woolmark Prize Regional Finals

Agi & Sam were yesterday announced as the Woolmark Prize British Isles regional finalist winners for the 2015/16 Woolmark Prize, at an awards event held at One Horse Guards in London.
The judging panel, made up of fashion industry heavyweights, included Roland Mouret, Jason Basmajin, Dylan Jones, Sophie Neophitou, Anita Barr, Simon Chilvers and Stuart McCullough also selected Teatum Jones as the winner for the womenswear category.
“Agi & Sam are brilliant because they have such an idiosyncratic point of view; they know exactly what they are doing” commented Dylan Jones, Editor-in-Chief of GQ. Jason Basmajin, Creative Director of Gieves and Hawkes, added, “They’ve demonstrated an inspirational combination of creativity, innovation and commercial sensibility. This is an exciting duo to watch as they develop their brand.”
At the awards ceremony Agi & Sam commented, “Wool is a strong part of our brand DNA; it’s amazing to get this recognition. We already use wool a lot in our collections because we’ve come to realise that no other fibre can match it in terms of versatility and quality.”
On winning the regional finals the winners will now have six to seven months to create a capsule collections in Merion wool, to be showcased at an event to highlight the six menswear and six menswear finalists selected around the globe.
Both winners were awarded AU$50,000 (approximately £24,500), they can now go on to have the opportunity to win an additional AU$100,000 (approximately £49,000) and the opportunity to be showcased in some of the biggest retailers in the world including Harvey Nichols, Matchesfashion.com, Saks Fifth Avenue as well as many more worldwide.
Now we’re rooting for Agi & Sam to win the global finals.
