Spa review: agua Bathhouse & Spa at Mondrian London
April 7, 2015
The agua Bathhouse & Spa at Mondrian London is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the sprawling London metropolis.
Set two floors below ground level within the sensational Tom Dixon-designed Mondrian London hotel, the vast submerged space combines a nautical theme with hints of Hollywood glamour, and the overall setting made us feel instantly relaxed. The menu is brimming with personalised treatments and an original selection of skincare – some of which agua is introducing to the global spa arena – and guests are encouraged to explore a diverse range of therapies in an eclectic and comforting setting.
The spa’s lengthy treatment menu has ample options for both male and female guests. The dedicated male menu features a broad range of facials designed to soothe and rejuvenate, alongside massages wit varying techniques.
Facilities include an area for manicures and pedicures, individual male and female changing rooms, steam rooms, a mixed relaxation room and several treatment rooms. Guests may relax here before and after their treatment, whether its a trip to the decadent steam rooms or a nap in the soothing relaxation area, centred around Tom Dixon’s arresting copper teardrop sculpture.
We took pleasure in sinking into the subterranean surrounds and thoroughly enjoyed our workaholic’s massage. Our therapist successfully smoothed all signs of tight muscles and left us feeling positively serene. After our treatment, we were settled into the relaxation room, cocooned in a duvet and served a herbal tea. The duvet although odd, was very relaxing and we quickly found ourselves nodding off.
The spa snacks menu featured options for indulgence alongside healthy suggestions – there’s an epic chocolate fondue for those who dare, or a selection of superfood smoothies and salads for those that don’t.
Whilst the agua spa is a relaxation haven, if you’re in a mixed group of friends, the lack of uni-sex steam rooms and lack of jacuzzi may put you off. But if you’re looking for an after work massage to destress from your busy week or a truly functional facial, agua Bathhouse & Spa at Mondrian London is the perfect place to come and unwind.
The 35-minute workaholics massage costs £55, £75 for 50 minutes and £115 for 80 minutes.
