Anatomical Whisky Tasting this Valentine’s Day
January 26, 2015
Are you stuck for something interesting/original/decadent/not horrendously cheesy to do for Valentine’s Day, either on your own or with a friend or date this year? Do you like Whisky? If the answers to the above are both a resounding ‘yes’, then please read on… If they aren’t, read on anyway and we might be able to persuade you otherwise.
This year, for Valentine’s Day, Bompas & Parr – craft jellymongers (yes, that is most definitely a thing) and leaders in flavour-based, experiential design and culinary research – are hosting an Anatomical Whisky Tasting at Ace Hotel Shoreditch.
“What is Anatomical Whisky Tasting?!” we hear you cry. Well, it is the world’s most adult form of body-shotting. Guests will be invited to sip 25-year old, 30-year old and 50-year old spirits off of the bodies of performers the same age as the drams they are paired with.
That’s right. You will be sampling fine single malts and the like off of the natural contours of another’s body, in the hopes that their body temperature will raise the whisky’s to showcase its flavours, whilst you form a uniquely intimate bond with the performers and any partner you intend on bringing with you – let’s face it, if you suck a beverage from the body of another together, a connection will no doubt be formed between you.
Each performer will be telling their compelling life’s story. Sam Bompas and Harry Parr hope that this will elevate the practice of body-shots and make attendees grasp the full magnitude of the years the spirits have lain in the their casks for, gaining complexity and maturity, just like their human vessels.
Sam claims that they will create “an alcoholic oasis in the willing participant’s naval (or other handy bodily recess) with the spirits providing a thrilling libation for guests’ exploring tongues – their experienced organs of taste.”
What is certain is that this is not a date you will be likely to forget.
The event will be hosted twice at 3pm and 7pm on 14th February 2015. Tickets are available here at £48 per person.
