Baartmans & Siegel Spring/Summer 2016
June 15, 2015
Before the Baartmans and Siegel boys took to their spots on their minimalist Arizonan highway they walked past the words ‘be the bad-ass cowboy you know you wanna be!’ – a truer statement could not have encapsulated this collection more. The presentation was set among geometric black iron frames and undulating cactus neons, reflecting the collection’s effortless masculine style with flourishes of playful innovation.
Noted was the signature interplay of navy throughout, honouring the London-based duo’s fascination with the colour. Resonating off of this and a backdrop of grey was the pure white heat of shredded selvedge denim and Appaloosa pony hide inspired prints on shirts and jackets. Breathable nylon linings, cool-touch engineered cuffs, French hand–woven stretch collars, detachable inclement weather hoods, Italian wools, bespoke hardware and organic cottons all added to the mix of hard and soft. Navigating the active yet considered style of the SS16 urban ranger, they incorporated two of LCM’s standout trends by evolving the brand’s signature ‘formal joggers’ and a multi-pocket jacket.
