Boda Skins – The Search For The Perfect Leather Jacket
May 18, 2018
There are a few trends that are never to die. One of them is the leather jacket. A quality leather jacket is quite an investment in most cases; we want one which not only looks good, but is built to last as well. Candid’s Fashion Editor Thomas Falkenstedt has been searching for one for ages and thinks he has found a great option in Boda Skins.
I’ve had the privilege to be handed a leather jacket from my grandfather which he wore in the 1950s when he was dating my grandmother. I’ve seen really cool pictures of them riding a motorcycle, looking ever-so-much in love (they still are), but most of all, my grandfather beats James Dean in coolness, big time. I’d like to think I am as cool as he was, and as much as I love his jacket, his shoulders are a tad wider than mine. Thus, I’ve been on the hunt for a modern replacement for quite some time. I’d like to give a shout out to Boda Skins, a British manufacturer who stands for craftsmanship, quality and style.
The Boda Skin leather jackets are designed in Manchester by the expert touch of CEO Nathan Alexander, who was introduced to the perfect leather while living in Turkey. Not letting go of the idea, he took the leather with him on his return to the UK and since then, the jackets have been produced by leather artisans from the finest materials and they are expertly-refined for that perfect fit.
Boda Skins redesign the established, creating stand-out pieces designed for the discerning individual. Their collection represents an obsession for perfection. Each jacket is handmade, unique and crafted from the most superior materials out there. All jackets are created individually, refined at least forty times (which is a lot) before production, hand-made from 100% Napa and Nubuck sheepskin leather.
There are a few models I would like you to take a closer look at: the iconic ribbed sleeves and quilted panels on their classic Kay Michaels Biker Jacket; striking metal-pressed studs on the Napoleon and the signature hardware and buckles on the Classic Biker. In their seemingly-endless collection of leather jackets, I am sure you will find a perfect fit for yourself.
Boda Skins speaks to those who are inspired to be original, timeless with a rock and roll edge – kind of like my grandfather’s jacket, which still does the trick almost seventy years later. If you’re going to invest in a piece like this, make sure it’s a good one.
