The team at Candid spent this weekend celebrating the launch of our fourteenth issue, The Art Issue starring Hollywood actor Alex Wolff.
On Saturday evening we headed to private members club, Century in Soho to celebrate the Candid Magazine x Grooming Room launch party on the club’s expansive rooftop.
By the time we (the nearly full editorial team from Candid) arrived, a star-studded assortment of guests were there including musicians Dan Olsen, SVFARI, Julius Cowdrey, Dan Crossley and the boys from Collabro, Jai’me Jan, Prince Cassius, super-influencer Samuel Bensoussan (who features in the new issue); artist, stylist and designer, Daniel Lismore as well as a host of revellers from CHALAYAN, Vivienne Westwood, the Daily Mail and the Sunday Times Style rounded out the rooftop party space, along with a massive helping of models.
We were welcomed with (many) Blue Stone cocktails, courtesy of luxury French vodka house CÎROC, who sponsored the party. The super-popular gif booth was also courtesy of CÎROC and there was a queue to be silly from party start to finish. We spotted, illustrator Daisy de Villeneuve; Instagram sensation, Lorna Luxe and Hoxton Radio’s Olivia Cox making the most of the photo booth, cocktails in hand.
Singer-songwriter, Sam Callahan was the guest DJ, spinning the tunes from 8pm – 9pm, Sam brought revellers his signature blend of dance and electronic and treated guests to his official Music Week Dance Charts track – a remix of I Love It When You. Sam’s set was followed by an expert edit of tunes from Hoxton Radio’s The Preshaah.
We woke up the next day feeling slightly hazy from the night before, but the team gathered just before 11am to head back to Century Club to enjoy treatments courtesy of the AW17 Grooming Room over London Fashion Week Men’s.
The Grooming Room offered two full days of luxury indulgence to press, buyers, celebrities, influencers and insiders. The secluded hub was the place to relax and get pampered in, and we couldn’t resist booking in for every treatment.
First we booked in for a facial grooming treatment with Cornerstone. The barber was extremely friendly and spent over thirty minutes delicately trimming, styling and grooming to perfection, and we got to leave with beautifully designed razors and paraben-free, BPA-free skincare products.
Next stop was Sassoon, who have partnered with the Grooming Room for eight seasons. Expert stylist Natasha was quick to help decide on a trim and re-style. Twenty minutes later we left looking smarter and ready for the shows.
We had heard about Lamiderm’s ground-breaking new serum and were excited to trial it at the Grooming Room. The bio-serum uses the only known natural source of LOX enzyme activator – an enzyme that helps small collagen fibres connect to longer and stronger fibres. The team explained the science to us and carefully applied the rejuvenating serum to our faces. Amazed by how much softer and firmer our skin felt, this is definitely something we’d recommend.
It was finally time for the appointment with ChinUp Mask – known as the ‘non-surgical face lift’, ChinUp Mask combines beauty, science and technology to give a thirty-minute treatment that noticeably reduces the appearance of the chin by more than two centimetres.
Thirty minutes later, the mask was removed, and two centimetres had been successfully dispersed. The treatment can last up to four days, so is a perfect secret weapon before a special occasion.
Final treatments were a quick mini manicure (file and shape) by Elegant Touch and eyebrow mapping by London Lash & Brow where Ellie plucked, primed and re-designed.
After trying every treatment, we were ready for the CÎROC gif booth, which was addictive, but we did to pry ourselves away to head to the shows. Stay tuned for our reviews.
The next day we did sneak back to the Grooming Room to sit in on The Industry’s event where director, Lauretta Roberts was live in conversation with Jigsaw CEO, Peter Ruis.
We’re definitely popping back in next month for the Grooming Room: Women’s Edit.
This AW17 LFWM session of the Grooming Room was in partnership with Candid Magazine, Century Club, AOFM Pro, CÎROC, SASSOON, Laminine, Cornerstone, ChinUp Mask, Elegant Touch, See Fashion, KIND bars, Propercorn, Sparkling Ice, Hoxton Radio, The Industry, FARBLACK, DIARY directory and The Media Eye.
