Candid Magazine Issue 9
October 29, 2014
This week saw Candid Magazine release its first print issue – issue 9. Since 2011 Candid’s readers have been able to purchase Candid through Apple’s App-Store but now are able to purchase it as a luxury coffee table magazine. Candid will be distributed in over 22 countries being sold in major cities and on Candid’s own online store.
With Candid focusing heavily on the arts it made luxury Mayfair art gallery, The Grimaldi Gavin, the perfect place to hold a launch event on the 27th October. Unlike previous issues, Candid now focuses solely on the menswear market, niching itself with arts features, fashion editorial, features, a brand new grooming and lifestyle section and of course music and film.
Creative Director, Danny Keeling says “Moving into print is the most exciting thing we have done so far. I feel by entering the luxury menswear market we are really tapping into far better opportunities, in not only the content that is being created but also creating something for our loyal readers. I like to explain the aesthetic of the issue as having a similar feel to an exhibition catalogue, complemented by the matte coating, thickness and weight of the magazine but I think our readers will agree that this is an issue you won’t want to throw away.”
In this issue Candid sat down with cover model, Oliver Cheshire, to talk all things style, as well as finding out about his hugely successful modelling career. Candid is also in conversation with the Creative Director of Eleven Paris to talk about how she helped to turn the small French brand into what it is today.
Artistic duo Gilbert & George enlightened Candid about their artwork and how they live in the “centre of the universe”. Also covered are, the must-see exhibitions for this season, the perfect grooming products for men of all types, and the hottest places to drink and dine this Autumn.
