London-based fashion photographer, Christopher Dadey has passed away. Known throughout the industry as one of the best catwalk photographers, Christopher’s clients included Vivienne Westwood, Sibling, Lou Dalton, Matthew Miller, Todd Lynn, Bora Aksu, Eudon Choi, YMC, Kit Neale, Pieter, Fashion East, KTZ , Bobby Abley, Cottweiler, Opening Ceremony, Astrid Andersen, Mr. Hare, Zandra Rhodes…The list goes on and on. Zandra Rhodes said of his work, “Great composition and unsettling nature. Keeps you on the edge. Most importantly [you] can see the clothes.”
His work appeared in every major fashion publication and digital space around the world: GQ, WWD, Vogue.co.uk, i-D, Wonderland, The Independent, Tatler, Spin, ELLE, Dazed, The Guardian. Gaby Cove, picture editor at Condé Nast said, “Chris was a lovely, lovely person to work with, brilliantly talented, and I will miss him very much.”
Christopher formed his career via a theatre and tech background in Toronto and Paris before settling in London with his partner of decades, fashion stylist, Rebekah Roy.
Christopher was well-known on the catwalk circuit as one of the kindest and friendliest photographers in the pit. His last major assignment was London Collections: Men Spring/Summer 2016 and he was just gearing up for London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016. His designer clients are absolutely devastated with the news of his passing. Fashion designer Bora Aksu said, “Feeling such shock and sadness…what a great loss.”
Christopher died on the 3rd of September, and is survived by his wife, Rebekah, who was recently appointed acting creative director of Candid.
