Chinese Food Festival

Chinese cuisine is one of the most diverse offerings you can find in the world with variations from the spicy delights of Sichuan to the intricate preparation of Cantonese dishes. It was hardly a surprise to hear of a Chinese Food Festival dedicated solely to this much-loved fare. In fact, it will be the third edition of the festival and this year it returns to Potters Fields Park from September 8th – 10th.
There will be three distinct areas: The most popular section will be the food fair with over twenty food stalls serving authentic Chinese cuisine from a variety of regions. Popular vendors including Chang’s Noodle, Kova Patisserie, Tang’s Crawfish, Kang Foo Noodles, Han Dian and Happy Lemon will be serving up crowd-pleasers like sheng jian bao, chongqing Noodles, Taiwanese fried chicken and traditional soup from Henan.
The second area is the Lee Kum Kee Cooking Masterclass section where you can learn from the ever-popular School of Wok’s Jeremy Pang. There will be hands-on demonstrations as well as learn-to-cook dumplings and Sichuan chicken in a forty-five minute masterclass on Saturday and Sunday. Spaces are free but registration is required on a first-come, first-served basis via their website.
The new addition to 2017 is a Discovery Journey area, where they are offering a six-course tasting extravaganza curated by Lillian Luk, host of pop-up Shanghai Supper Club and TongTong Ren, and Peiran Gong founder of Chinese Laundry Room. Expect-exotic sounding dishes like vegetarian duck and osmanthus flower and chestnut cake. Booking is required via their website and charged at £55 per person.
