Day One: SS18 Grooming Room over London Fashion Week Men’s

Last weekend Candid’s fifteenth issue – The Luxury Issue – launched over London Fashion Week Men’s, hosted by cover star, McFly’s Danny Jones.

The party also celebrated the start of the SS18 Grooming Room. After waking up feeling a little hazy from (more than a few) CÎROC cocktails the night before, the team descended on the Grooming Room mid-morning, to enjoy a day of luxury treatments.

After a late night, we knew our skin needed some pampering so headed straight to men’s specialist skincare brand, STOER’s space for a Vitamin Power Mask facial courtesy of the brand’s very own founder, Marianne Morrison.

Twenty minutes later our skin felt refreshed and we were pleased to see that tired eyes had been replaced with a dewy glow.

Our next stop was with hairstyling geniuses, Sassoon. Super stylist, Stevo Doran did a quick trim and blow dry before we headed off to our first show.

Already addicted to just hanging out in the Grooming Room, we went back and to Cornerstone to enjoy a wet shave and some (much needed) beard styling courtesy of their expert barber.

With hair and skin re-vamped, we were ready to take a look at some of the men’s fashion collections that were exhibiting this season. We were particularly excited to see award-winning French designer Armine Ohanyan, who had wowed the crowds at Vancouver Fashion Week earlier this year when we were there with Fucking Young! Magazine.

Ohanyan’s collection combines minimalism with futuristic design elements and is perfect for the modern man looking for something that will turn heads.

&Coh were also exhibiting; the British brand offers a contemporary collection of unisex, luxury athleisure.

Subtle in colour but strong in design, their latest collection brings a sophisticated and contemporary feel to sports-lux.

Other treatments available this season at the Grooming Room included mini makeovers from AOFM Pro artists, who you usually find backstage at fashion week shows all over the world.

This season they did the grooming for models walking in Christopher Raeburn, Matthew Miller and Korean brand D.Gnak’s shows in London and at DAKS, Ermanno Scervino and Dondup in Milan.

Eyebrow and manicure specialists from Guys and Dolls Parlour in Shoreditch were on hand to treat guests to manicures and eyebrow shaping, and after indulging in (yet another) CÎROC cocktail, it was time for the From The Neck Up talk.

Hosted by Hawkins & Shepherd founder, Carl Thompson, STOER skincare’s founder, Marianne Morrison and Sassoon Salon stylist, Joshua Gibson revealed some of the best tips and tricks for men’s hair and skincare.

Once we had finished taking notes on what hairstyles suited our face shapes, the team enjoyed another generous cocktail hour, this time indulging in an ice cold San Miguel lager.

After chatting to Marianne and Joshua and moving onto some more cocktails, it was time to wrap the first day of the Grooming Room and head to the 6th Annual FashionWorked Awards.
