Frenn Goes To New Heights With SS19
October 16, 2018
Frenn reaches a whole new level with their SS19 collection.
Candid’s Fashion Editor, Thomas Falkenstedt, has run into the guys at Frenn in both Pitti Uomo in Florence, Copenhagen and Helsinki over the past few years and has seen them evolve from an OK brand to an internationally acclaimed one.
With their spring/summer 2019 collection the Finnish brand has finally reached the top with a collection that makes us long for next summer already.
Frenn means relaxed sophistication spiced with a sporty and contemporary feel. Frenn believes in formality with exceptional ease, comfort and freedom along with clever details – always in impeccable quality. It’s easy to feel and look good, not having to think about what to wear to which occasion – work or play.
The brand is designed in Helsinki and responsibly hand-manufactured in Northern Europe from premium, ecologically sourced European materials. Every little detail is carefully designed from the colour of the button thread to the perfect cut.
Inspired by art and architecture
Art and architecture is the inspiration for Frenn. Therefore it’s natural that the collaboration with artist, painter and friend, Stig Baumgartner continues.
The artist’s rough sketches, which never ended up becoming finished paintings, have been the inspiration for the SS19 Frenn collection.
A perfect choice for work, travel and leisure
Bright blue is the key colour for the graphic design of the new Frenn collection, the details of the new flagship store as well as for shirts, prints and sweatshirts.
Toss in some bright yellow and you’ll see that this somewhat-colour-conservative brand has livened up the collection and taken it to new heights.
Functional fabrics continue and take wearability and comfort yet to another level. Washed linen and high quality jersey are a perfect choice for work, travel and leisure. The urban parka Pentti is as stylish as it is a water and soil repellent. And it has a new fun print and a more boxy silhouette.
Two creative professionals from Finland, Antti Laitinen and Jarkko Kallio founded Frenn in 2013 fulfilling the need to update menswear traditions with innovation and ease.
They both have over twenty years of experience in the textile and clothing industry, earning their stripes in major Finnish textile and design firms, all of which can be seen in this collection.
Frenn was honoured with the Design Deed of the Year 2017 award in Finland and ever since has been a rising star in fashion.
A visit to their flagship store a month ago in Helsinki really opened my eyes from this brand acquaintance I made some years ago. It’s fulfilling to see that they’re finally working towards their full potential.
