If Wiley is the God Father of grime, then Dizzee Rascal is the original prodigal son. Bow’s very own, Dizzee rose to fame while a fresh-faced 18 year old youth for his genre defying debut album Boy In Da Corner that won him the Mercury Music Prize. Nothing quite like it had ever been heard before – the bass was so violent, the lyrics so offensive and the beats so grimey that they shook the walls in a way that hadn’t antagonised people like that since the Sex Pistols. Dizzee sounded like a lyrical boxer ready to knock out the audience. He went on to inspire many UK rappers, the majority of which have fallen in his wake.

It’s no secret that over the years, Dizzee’s sound had dramatically changed – whether its Ibiza club banger or pop starlet duet ballad, he has tried his hand at a variety of outputs. Many criticise him of forgetting his roots – the angst that was the epicentre of his beginning and brought him so much loyalty. However, those fans who have always stuck by him and defended his name need worry no more – for one night only, you can relive the ’03 glory and forget that the now 31 year old rascal every grew up at all.

Red Bull Music Academy announced today, that for one night only Dizzee Rascal is returning to London to play in full, the entirety of Boy In Da Corner. The venue is yet to be announced and tickets don’t go on sale until next Tuesday, but its guaranteed to be one not to miss. Having recently played the same set to a New York crowd, Dizzee is bringing it back to where it all began. The show is part of Red Bull Music Academy’s upcoming UK tour, which is an eclectic mix of low-key gigs, workshops and interviews with the best in the UK urban scene including Kano, DJ Harvey, Blood Orange, Young Fathers and KingCharles. After the hype of the Sound Clash, yet again Red Bull is pulling out all the stops to bring the best in the UK’s powerful sound back to the people in innovative ways.
