June 26, 2016

Ever wanted to be a fly on the wall on one of those invitation-only, VIP fashion lunches? Now that the spring/summer 2017 season is wrapped (hopefully you’ve been keeping up with our on-the-ground social media action from London, Milan and Paris), we’ll let you in on the one that Candid Magazine and Century Club hosted over London Collections Men.

Set in a secluded room inside Century Club – the prohibition-style private members’ club set over four floors, boasting the largest roof terrace in Soho, guests were welcomed with champagne by hosts: Candid Magazine editor-in-chief, Courtney Blackman and Century Club’s general manager, Ronald Holmberg.

Keeping it up-scale and figure-conscious, it was all about vegetables and protein; broccolini, quinoa, beetroot, salmon and aubergine abound, but things quickly got entertaining when the tequila shots arrived, again, and again. Soon it was musical chairs, hilarious photos and Boomerang video creation, before everyone was off to The Grooming Room downstairs (offering wet shaves, hair styling, eyebrow mapping, manicures…), gigs, the Joshua Kane (who was photographed in Century Club for Candid Magazine) catwalk show, and in one case, hosting a party. We sincerely hope everyone was able to function.

Who was there? Let’s go around the table counter-clockwise: Germany’s top fashion influencer, Patrick Ascher; singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Elyar Fox; blogger/vlogger Joey London; model, Diego Barrueco; fashion writer, Jai’me Jan of Jaime London Boy; fashion entrepreneur, Oliver Proudlock; television presenter, Prince Cassius; Candid Magazine’s fashion features editor, Mikael Jack and Fashitect blogger, Toni Tran.

Our VIPs each left with a luxury gift bag featuring Joth Davies (founder of Savills Barbers) products from The Great British Grooming Co., precision men’s grooming tools from The Vintage Cosmetic Company, hair products from Sassoon, skincare from Dermalogica, one of evian’s new flavoured waters, pop art scarves from Electronic Sheep and a copy of The Design Issue – Candid’s thirteenth and latest print issue.

Thank you to everyone for coming and to Century Club for hosting an exquisite, tequila-filled afternoon.
