Not since 2007, when Dolce & Gabbana sent its men down the runway to the soundtrack of 2001: A Space Odyssey in white and silver astronaut suits, have we lusted so much over some space-age streetwear – until now.
British designer James Long has teamed up with German, leather-goods maker MCM to create a limited-edition collection – just landed in MCM’s Sloane Street store (but from where in the solar system is anyone’s guess). Shades of silver and grey on the jackets, sweats and jeans connect Long’s signature, laid-back and deconstructed aesthetic with MCM’s more-is-more approach.
Pieces from the collaboration – looking like they were born in the depths of space – are multi-facetedly desirable. MCM’s massive, cult following and Long’s grunge-cool extravagance has created a slick middle-ground for a smooth landing on Earth.
Available now in limited edition, exclusively at MCM, 5 Sloane Street, London
