LCM: Burberry Prorsum AW’14
January 10, 2014
Back in the famed glass tent at London Kensington Gardens, Christopher Bailey took us through an artistic journey. “A Painterly Journey” that is, which coincidentally is the name of his new collection, channelling his latest inspirations from artistic muses such as Ben Nicholson and Christopher Wood.
The latest men’s offering from the British luxury label Burberry Prorsum saw white string mesh tanks and trim trousers under rich outerwear with deconstructed colour-blocked blankets draped over one shoulder. Autumnal colour spectrums dominated the second half of the show with shades such as mustard, burgundy and forest green making an appearance.
The accessories are what really made this Burberry show triumphant. With rich textures, map print silk foulards worn almost as capes, hand-painted leather bags complete with London skyline, stupendously oversized carpet bags and plaid blanket scarves.
As always Burberry invites the World Wide Web to take a front row seat with a readily available live stream on the website and on twitter. Not only that, but can buyers already purchase the entire Burberry 2014 collection, with added personalisation options.
So, yet another stellar Burberry showcase, the entire fashion industry can give Bailey a pat on the back.
