Neon Lights Light Up The Capital As Lumiere Returns To The City
January 15, 2018
Lumiere London returns for the second edition on the 18th – 21st January with installations bigger, bolder and brighter than ever!
With more than 50 installations transforming London’s streets into a neon wonderland, now is the time to plan your visit to catch the innovative creations. Highlights include Waterlicht which will transform Granary Square in King’s Cross into a virtual, magical marine world. Oxford Circus will be getting Origin of the World Bubble 2018, which is a giant globe suspended above the world-famous junction and it interacts with the movements of the pedestrians below. Whilst, you can see Westminster Abbey in a new light with The Light of the Spirit (Chapter 2) technicolour display.
There are a plethora of offers linked with the festival from hotel stays, to sightseeing, to spa treatments and even dining out. The offers to look out for include half-price entry to Westminster Abbey on the 18th and 19th January, discounted hotel stays at luxe hotels like Hotel Cafe Royal and Mondrian London. In fact, the latter is a great option for an all-day indulgent experience with their spa social offer.
On Thursday 18th January from 18:30 – 21:30, you can enjoy exclusive use of their aqua Spa along with mini head massages, limited edition Lumiere cocktails, a sumptuous supper at Sea Containers restaurant and a beauty kit to take home.
For an exquisite dining experience, that is just as interactive as the installations, I would recommend the “Dine Your Way” Menu-Hopping Experience from the Marriott hotel group. Their 5-star venues are all in close proximity to the main artistic centres for Lumiere London including The Perception at W London, The Booking Office at St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London, the Palm Court at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane and Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar at London Marriott County Hall. The concept is you can savour a different course in each of their venues along the route of the illuminated installations. For example, you can imbibe on the Green Glow, a refreshing gin cocktail at the Booking Office before you check out Waterlicht and then enjoy a burrata buddha bowl at the newly opened The Perception and then finish the evening off with a tantalising spiced apple crumble with hot toddy ice-cream at The Terrace Grill & Bar at Le Meridien Piccadilly, which is a short stroll from the display at the Royal Academy of Arts.
