Architect, the new EP of model turned musician Sam Way, could be the perfect soundtrack to the start of spring, allowing you lie back, reflect on the colder months and look forward to the promise of sunshine ahead.

The EP has been inspired by Sam’s decade of travelling and developing his musical talent with other artists and musicians including collaborations with the London Contemporary Voices Choir and composer/ orchestrator Edward Abela. The classical influence is certainly apparent in his music, especially Stargazer a track, which apparently inspired the rest of the EP, and heavily features beautiful strings throughout by highlighting the climaxes of the song.

Sam Way

He is a successful model, signed by the prestigious Models 1 in London and Wilhelmina models in New York, as well as agencies in Barcelona, Paris and Milan amongst others. He has been in a number of campaigns for well known brands such as Yves Saint Laurent and Tommy Hilfiger. But with his burgeoning music career, hosting radio shows and also being a keen actor, it seems that this is one guy who is far more than just a pretty face.

Last summer, 28 year old Way travelled around gigging with singer/songwriter Anna Pancaldi, a long way from his hometown of Exeter up in the north of the country in Berwick-upon-Tweed, creating a vlog on his adventures, which can be viewed online.

His melancholic and emotional music isn’t necessarily catchy in the upbeat sense, but that doesn’t make it forgettable, and his song writing skills show depth and passion. The EP has a coming-of-age-vibe to it, which makes it relatable. Sam has some more musical maturity to come but he’ll be one to look out for this year.

Architect was released on November 2nd, and features five tracks – its namesake, the aforementioned Stargazer, Tiger Love, More than a Memory, and Goliath.
