New Zealand Wine Garage Sale

EU4A2600New Zealand’s finest are taking a trip to Brixton East this December. And no, we don’t mean the people on this occasion, though fine they may be.

In this case, we’re talking about wine, glorious wine, sent from a country of snow-capped mountains, emerald forests and undulating valleys. In an endeavour to raise awareness of home-pressed produce, New Zealand Cellar is set to showcase some of the finest wines at a ‘garage sale’ on the 14th December.

The company, headed up by restaurateur Melanie Brown, has curated a continuously evolving selection of bottles, newer vintages included, which will be offered at a steal with no retail mark up. They like to think of it as a wine-lovers answer to a sample sale, and who are we to disagree?

Over forty producers will exhibit wines from their sun-soaked vineyards, with Seresin, Neudorf, Pegasus Bay and Gladstone to name a few. Naturally, there will be experts on hand to help with pairing, and naturally, there will be plenty of samples to go round.

For the giddy-headed, fellow New Zealanders Caravan will serve the coffee and Notting Hill’s Provenance Butchers will take a stroll south of the river to roll out the sausages at a pop-up breakfast barbecue.

Now, we’re not ones to turn down a fine glass of grape as it is (or a breakfast barbecue for that matter), but given how far these ones have travelled to see us – and in the spirit of celebrating Christmas and all of its boozy goodness – we simply couldn’t refuse.

The event will open from 9am – 2pm at 100 Barrington Road, Brixton SW9 7JF. Tickets are available for £5 here, children go free and even have their own Kids corner, most likely to retreat to while their tipsy parents get increasingly loud and embarrassing.
