NO/AN Introduces Bold Bags For Men

NO/AN, a high-end handbag line conceived by Brussels-based Finnish designer Anna Lehmusniemi.

Our Scandi-based Fashion Editor, Thomas Falkenstedt, every once in a while finds a Nordic friend to feature. This time around he’s had a look at NO/AN, a high-end handbag line by Anna Lehmusniemi, a Finnish designer based in Brussels.

Reconnecting clients with beauty

Having worked for several fashion brands and realising that accessories were her favourite field, she logically turned to handbags as a source of inspiration, focusing on sleek lines and high quality skins.

NO/AN was born in 2016, mainly as a reaction to overconsumption and the reckless speed of the fashion industry.

Reconnecting clients with the beauty of long-lasting and patiently crafted bags, the Finnish designer imagined supple and relaxed styles, which could not be tied to any seasonal trends.

Concentrating on the concept of a single collection, which has the ability to grow and evolve over time, NO/AN advocates a humane and slower approach towards luxury, as well as a subjective point of view.

Each bag is linked to a human being

The importance of sustainability and craft are key with NO/AN, coupled with the authenticity that defines the whole brand.

The bags are made in Portugal by a specialised family-owned atelier, where the artisans involved get to sign the styles that they produced by hand.

Each bag is therefore linked to a human being, adding depth and soul to every NO/AN piece.

Graphic and geometrical lines echo Nordic landscapes

Bearing minimal details and using a restrained colour palette, NO/AN bags are produced in small series, underlining their exclusive appeal.

Double leather handles are one of the brand’s trademarks, as well as the collection’s graphic and geometrical lines, recalling Nordic landscapes and architecture.

European production

Anna Lehmusniemi made a clear decision to keep her production within Europe and also evolve her collection to attract menswear clients.

This season she introduced a new style, named The Bold Bag, as well as new colours, to appeal to confident and stylish men.

Men have been buying her bags since the launch of the brand and to shoot the bags with a male model was a conscious as well as exciting choice for Anna Lehmusniemi. The model, Simon Nygard is Finnish and the bags now reach an entirely new audience.
