Paris Fashion Week Highlights: H&M Studio, A Luxurious Offering

H&M returned to Paris Fashion Week after a hugely successful 2013 showcase; only this season, the high street brand staged their catwalk show under a new name, H&M Studio. Given that last year’s show was a roaring success for the label, it will be no surprise if they’re the new regulars on the PFW schedule. The AW14 offering channelled a whole lot of Kate Moss circa 1995, as well as some Charlotte Gainsbourg in the more ‘tomboyish’ pieces. As H&M’s Creative Design Head, Ann-Sofie Johannson explained, “We thought about club girls running to and from the club in their little slip dresses with a heavy coat or top.”

And so the key theme for the brand this season was ‘party ready’. Backless white silk jumpsuits and gorgeous beaded mini dresses were just some of the highlights, while knee-high boots in black and tan turned up the sex factor for a ‘late-night’ look, topped off by black leather jackets. H&M Studio also upped the ante in the details, with the pieces appearing much more intricate and luxurious than last year; there was a smattering of cashmere, suede, and velvet, as well as embellished elements which really added to the sumptuous feel of this collection.

Chocolate browns and khaki greens were key colours, and just went to prove that for next Autumn/Winter, think chic, sleek and simple.  The best bit, of course, is that you could be wearing the very same outfit sported by Joan Smalls on the catwalk. You’ll just have to wait until September for the pleasure…
