Futuro Beach Quad

After receiving its UK premiere last week at the 2015 edition of BFI Flare, London LGBT Film Festival, acclaimed Brazilian filmmaker Karim Aïnouz’s new film, Futuro Beach (Praia Do Futuro) is slated for a UK theatrical release next month and we have an exclusive first look at the gorgeous quad poster of the film from Peccadillo Pictures.

It’s an entrancing and stylish emotional journey that begins in the city of Fortaleza, Brazil, where the beach from the title is located and then leads us all the way to Berlin, with this move to Germany inevitably shifting the film’s mood, scope and colour palette, mirroring the metamorphosis our protagonist goes through. Donato works as a lifeguard patrolling the spectacular but treacherous Futuro Beach. When he dives into the sea he saves Konrad, a German vacationing in Brazil, but Konrad’s friend is lost. Soon a bond grows between Donato and Konrad and the initial sexual sparks give way to a deeper, emotional relationship.

Futuro Beach is a fascinating and gorgeously photographed piece of filmmaking that will catch your attention, leaving you wanting for more. Director Karim Aïnouz’s exploration of love, loss, bravery, weakness and disorientation is compelling and evocative. You can find our full coverage of the film in Candid Issue 10 which is on sale now and you can also purchase directly from our store.

FUTURO BEACH is released by Peccadillo Pictures in cinemas nationwide from May 8th.
