TOPMAN’s LTD- ‘Correspondent’
August 2, 2012
For their first AW 2012 trend, TOPMAN have released a collection inspired by the distinguished attire of 20th century cultural icons, Leonard Woolf and Arthur Ransome. Based upon an explorer and anthropologist aesthetic, the limited edition collection is titled ‘Correspondent.’
With influences from the arts and crafts movement, the collection features wooden block prints, like those found on early book covers of Bloomsbury Press. Simple, utilitarian styles are reminiscent of clothing used for travel and exploration in the early 19th century, and are complimented by strong print stories. Also drawing inspiration from zoology, the bold prints of birds, butterflies, and tigers are teamed with tweed overcoats, 3-piece slim fit suits, and utility style jackets, creating an organic, handcrafted approach to design- perfectly complementing the heritage style.
For a refined, intellectual, and classic bookish-appeal, pair a patterned polo shirt with a shawl collared cardigan, and woollen trousers that are just short of the ankle. If you dare for a more of a clashing look, opt for a patterned short and crew neck tee. The capsule collection, featuring beautiful autumnal colours of navy blue, grey, and burgundy is perfect for updating your wardrobe and enduring the transitional British weather.
The limited edition Correspondent trend is available now in TOPMAN.
