Wrangler Calls For A Wrevolution

May 3, 2018

Without revealing his age, our ever-so-young Fashion Editor, Thomas Falkenstedt, digs the Wrevolution set out by Wrangler, which glimpses into eighties nostalgia with pastels to black stories, multi-screen prints and retro logos being key to the collection.

‘A nostalgic and authentic eighties evolution of retro jeanswear. Deep into the Wrangler Wrevolution’ –that’s how Wrangler describe their Fall Preview 2018 capsule collection and indeed, there are a lot of things relating to that marvellous decade taking us back to the future with a collection even Marty McFly would be proud wearing.

This sets the ground for the upcoming AW18 collection, in which I hope the nostalgia remains strong.

The Wrangler Wrevolution is underway and delivers unexpected 80s patterns, prints, and colours going from tropical purple, chalk pink and bright turquoise, spectra green, faded yellow to very intense black. The revamped Wrangler gradient graphic makes headway, and provokes the brand standards by replacing the leather patch on the back of the pocket.

The iconic rainbow steals the limelight one more time, rallying the leading shades of the collection. This could equally well be me describing the intro of My Little Pony, but thankfully it is not.

Tops continue to develop: a more extensive range of polos is freshened up with evolved-80s graphics; pastels blend on western shirts; hoodies and sweats represent the main neon stories.

With a colour palette including the entire rainbow and then some, the capsule collection is a contemporary ode to the heroes from the 80s such as Crocodile Dundee, Cyndi Lauper and the previously-mentioned Marty McFly, to name a few. You might think I am being sarcastic, but I am far from it. The 90s have had their fair share of attention lately, it is time for another glorious decade to be in the spotlight.
